I don't know what they mean by "great attractions". They had all of these things in San Diego as well when we were there. On the website it does list "great attractions | cooking demonstrations | carnival rides | beer garden | live DJ" but you can't get any details about any of those. ![]() Hopefully at some point though, outside of the event, you'll find us and still give us a chance. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the experience. If you find something you like and they are local, you can keep going there after the event and very likely pay a lesser price. You know going in you are going to pay a premium but it is for the experience and to be able to try different foods all in one location. But this is like a vacation or Vegas show. Yes, you have to pay for admission and yes you have to pay higher prices for the food. Our costs on the food truck have gone up so that we can do this event. I also agree that everything is higher priced. But there also plenty of people like me who do consider it worth it. The normal admission is not everyone's thing. It sounded like an awesome concept to me but I have never tried it myself. I really don't know anything about the VIP tickets. Also, that $11 cost will get you in to all 4 days of the event. Keep in mind that the cost that you (and we) pay to be at this event covers a whole host of things that they supply to us in order to keep us operating for 4 days. then I guarantee your cost for a ticket to get in would go up to match that cost and probably more to cover a service charge. So if instead they gave something away like a t-shirt, sweatband, etc. It doesn't sound that bad but trust me, it is. Now every truck has to have a way to accept a ticket and redeem it back with the sponsors. If we did try to set-up something where a free item coupon was given away there would be a whole nightmare of logistics for us, the food truck vendors. We don't actually have any affiliation with them directly. What you have to consider is the people who put on this event only invite the food trucks to participate. It's interesting to get to see all of this from behind the scenes though. I wish that could happen as well, believe it or not. And if you don't make it out to this event, you should at least look at our calendar and find us when we are just out normally and not at an event. If anyone has any questions I will be happy to provide any information that I can. You should definitely try one of the dogs. I will not be there at all times but should be there mostly in the evenings every day. And please stop by and say "hi" to The World's Best Corndogs. Save a little money and buy your tickets now online and I recommend buying a ticket for the whole weekend. And of course there are local favorites like Strip Chezze and Dude. There's not much more I should need to say about that. Middle Feast from the Food Network's Great Food Truck Race were there and they are genuinely friendly people with awesome food. Frach's Fried Ice Cream was absolutely amazing but I never saw less than a 30-minute wait in line at their window. There are several food trucks that I will be having again here. ![]() I was able to get in because of my affiliation with the food truck but I would gladly have paid to go. Last month we were part of Foodie Fest in San Diego and it was an incredible event. ![]() I am currently working to see if I can arrange a small discount for Redditors at our truck but I can not promise anything at this point but will keep you updated if I can arrange anything with the owners. I am part of The World's Best Corndogs (and yes, they really are). I will admit to have a personal connection to this event because I work with one of the food trucks that will be there. This event features food trucks from all around the country. The Great American Foodie Fest will be taking place Thursday, April 30th through Sunday, May 3rd at the Rio.
